Painful Gout January 16, 2011

Gout is one of the most painful forms of arthritis. However, there are many forms of Arthritis, such as GOUT, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. These are also known as degenerative arthritis. Anyone who lives with this condition knows how painful and life-affecting it can be. They also know how costly it can be to “manage” arthritis with expensive medications, such as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), some of which result in terrible side-effects and have known dangerous health risks, such as increased risk for heart attack and stroke. These drugs will also decrease in effectiveness over time, if they were even effective to begin with. Lowering your Uric Acid level is definitely the KEY to treating these somewhat paralyzing symptoms.

Gout is the result from deposits of tiny crystals of uric acid in connective tissue, joint spaces, or both. These deposits lead to inflammation, causing swelling, redness, heat, pain, and stiffness in joints. Gout accounts for about 5% of the arthritic cases. Too much alcohol is one of the major contributors to high uric acid levels. Also, an excess of seafood has been shown in studies to be a major factor in contributing to extremely high Uric Acid levels causing debilitating painful attacks of Gout which need Immediate Attention.

People react differently to pain for several reasons. Physical factors include the sensitivity of your nervous system and the severity of your pain. Emotional and social factors include your fears and anxieties about your pain, your previous experiences with pain and your energy level to deal with the pain.

Your own attitudes about your condition and the way people around you react to your pain are very important components to your recovery. Many people with Gout and other arthritic conditions have found that by learning and practicing pain management skills, they can reduce their pain. Getting your mind to focus on other things and to become engrossed in what you are doing will usually make the pain less noticeable and you will Feel Better.
